About
Actor
Hi there! I’m Nicole Ruthmarie, a theater-loving, mushroom-photographing, arrow-shooting, generally feral nerd with a heart for storytelling.
I guess I was always bound for the performing arts—I got my first taste of it watching my aunt, a true force of an actor. She made it look like everyone just knew what to say and do perfectly, as if they’d been enchanted to perform. It fascinated me, but the theater bug didn’t really sink its teeth in until 2006, during a church youth group play about Daniel and the Lion’s Den. There, I was handed a script, stepped onto a stage, and bam—I was hooked.
From then on, I couldn’t get enough. High school was a dream, with an acting program that let me run wild with my imagination. Community college? Same story. And then I made my way to West Chester University of PA, where I got my Bachelor’s in Theatre: Performance and dove headfirst into production after production. After graduation, I found myself in the DC Metro Area, performing whenever and wherever I could, while also dabbling in other branches of theater just to keep things interesting.
When I’m not on stage, you’ll probably find me pursuing one of my (many) oddball hobbies: embroidering, kayaking, testing my archery skills, and taking way too many pictures of mushrooms and my dogs. I have a soft spot for anything that lets me explore, create, or get up to some harmless tomfoolery.
Theater is my home, and storytelling is my soul’s work. I bring all my quirks, passions, and awkward charm to each role—and to life—ready to captivate, connect, and maybe get a little wild in the process.
Playwright
An actor by trade, playwright by passion, and storyteller through and through. Ever since high school, I’ve had an itch to write, and over the years, I’ve dabbled in all sorts of forms: short stories, poems, and, of course, plays. My work centers on stories about Black women—a perspective that’s close to my heart and one I’m passionate about bringing to life on stage.

So far, I’ve had the privilege of seeing two of my plays come to life at festivals:

-
Enough, featured by Artscentric in Q-Fest 3.0, and
-
Persephone’s Descent, produced by Pomegranate Room for Echoes: Stories from Mythology Radio Festival.
Writing lets me explore my roots, celebrate my community, and give a voice to experiences that are too often overlooked. The journey’s just starting, so keep an eye out for what’s next—I’ve got a lot more stories to tell, and I can’t wait to share them.
Committed to My Craft
Throughout my career, I’ve constantly pushed myself as an actor in order to hone my craft - from meticulously studying the great performances to taking on a wide variety of roles. I’ve worked hard at developing my own artistic voice and making sure I stand out in the acting scene.
